For some reason, the plunger that rests on the recoil spring did not fully return. Had to change guns, lead to a complete breakdown on my part, couldn't hit anything. Well ,what would cause the spring & plunger to hang up? The spring is new as well as the connecting rod. Could it be any part of the gas system? I was shooting Winchester AA 11/8 oz @1145. I have the gas chamber spring from Cole guns for light loads installed.

When you remove the connecting rod and all linkage (gut the gun), is the plunger still hung up?

The plunger was hung up. Thoroughly cleaned the spring tube & lubed the spring again. Plunger is free now.
