Damn it's a dandy setup. I have a Colt 1911 WWII war model also of the same year. I just don't have the knowledge on them to help you with the value of it though. Good luck. It's a collector piece for sure.
There is No Army or US Property Stamp on this One...No signs of Removal..All Original Finishes. Same Proof Mark near slide release...Eagels Head with Number, Looked up that,it is Springfield Inspection Proof Mark.
Only Thing that I can see that is Different than All the Pictures I have seen..is that this one has Straight Blade front sight vrs.Half Moon Blade as Issued. Thanks for your Info. Bart
Sorry I missed that One....Sales for these Guns are Much More in Todays Market.
Great Looking Gun...As All your Guns Are. I see that it too did not have Goverment Stamp.. Thanks for the FYI. Bart
Couple of things. Black Army finish started around serial 400,000. The front of the slide that comes down and toward the frame, usually ends before it reaches the frame. The radius continues past the start of the frame on this gun. Both examples listed above show what I am saying. Not sure this is the original slide. Just a guess. Go to this site and you can obtain a lot of information.

Thanks for the Info. on the Web Site...Great Info. Looks to be a GANGSTER GUN with US Property stamp Removed ..As Barfin had Suggested. All Great Info. Thanks, Bart
I apologize for the first picture being out of focus, here's a close up of said markings on this 1911:
I remember this particular piece was sold to a nice young lady in FL, who has CCW permit, so her FFL hand it over the counter to her right after it arrived. She bought it for her husband's birthday. What a great girl.
Just got dad's Colt out of the safe to look at. Has the US property. Can not get the whole serial # unless I remove the FITZ ACCU RISER grips. Man he could shoot that gun!!!
That's a pretty classy set up. I would think it would bring large bucks. I am not a military collector so I cannot speak intelligently though. I have much of the stuff, but not the compass or the first aid kit and mine may be several different years.
