I received a Facebook friend request last night from a gentleman supposedly named Kirk Fowles. I don't know Mr. Fowles but (like an idiot) I accepted his friend request. This morning I received a message asking what trap gun I shoot. I thought this seemed a little strange but I answered and was polite. Mr. "Fowles" (no idea if that's his real name). After a little bit of virtual small talk I decided to google his name and home state. It turns out Kirk is a well know scammer on this website! I have unfriended him and told him I know he is a scammer. Although he didn't try to scam me I thought I should put the word out to any Trapshooters.com members who use facebook. I didn't include pictures of our chat because it was just trapshooting small talk but if anyone wants pictures I can provide them. Below are links to just a few of the threads identifying him as a scammer.

Con man tactics
1 Try to gain your trust by dropping names.
2 Try to impress you with thier knowledge .
3 Have no problem lying to make themselves look important.
4 Try to learn facts about you so they can be more appealing by making up a tailor made personality .
5 They will often make deals that are too good to be true.

He is also a member of the Facebook group Amateur Trapshooting Association of America (ATA) Official Group of which I am an administrator. Of course on this group we have rules of no selling of any kind. It's only a conversation group so we haven't had any problems or issues with this individual that I am aware of. And believe me I am well aware of this person.

He has friend requested me twice now on Facebook. He also messaged me once. I am well aware of his past and don't want anything to do with him. He is also on my short list of someone to never squad with. He is very distracting.

What I find most interesting on his facebook page are the "friends" who are listed.

I would not have even given a glance had I not noticed Indiana Gun Club was one of the "friends" and that peaked my interest.

You would be amazed at some of the well known shooters and vendors who have "friended" this guy.

Given his reputation one would think that they would distance themselves from this character.
