As long as you keep cycling the ammo and component through the storage area, it should not experience adverse affects.
Now, if you store some components for 10 or 20 or more years, it may experience some deterioration.

I live in an area that goes from 28 degrees to an occasional 100 degrees in the summer. I store my ammo in an insulated shed and all my powder, primers, wads and hulls in my insulated, attached garage. I have never had a problem.

I have about 20 flats in each of 2 bedrooms, works for me.

Pat
Right now, I have probably 50 flats of 12, 20 and 28 gauge ammo, plus about 20 ammo cans with metallic cartridges, about 30# of powder and 15k of primers then close to 80 guns in a extra walk in closet we have now.

Think I'll get some shelving for the ammo. Some pretty cheap on Craigslist here. Only want to put the ammo in the garage, no guns unless I'm working on them.

Thanks for all the replies.
Think I'm going to find some shelving or plastic pallets as noted. Like that much better than wood ones. Usually some available free on Craigslist.

In our previous place I had an unheated/uncooled 24x36 foot detached garage. Most of my ammo, all of my shotshells and all reloading powders, primers, etc. were stored in there. No problem for the 25+ years there. And it does get kinda cold here as in 16 degrees this morning on the first day of spring.

OP, you should be just fine.

So we will be moving to a place with a unheated garage and I have questions about storing my ammo. Temps here in Northern Nevada can go from in the low teens in the winter to over 100 in the summer.
Is storing my powder, primers and ammo in the garage going to be a problem. In our old place I used a extra walk-in closet to store everything.
Will probably build some wood risers to keep it off the floor if it's good.
Cold and heat no problem.

Kevin at Down Range Wads told me they have shown a 50 ft reduction in FPS with cold shells. His definition of cold was stored in the garage in winter in the northern latitudes.

The same thing happens with rifle cartridges when hunting, rounds get cold, I shoot a lot of rifles and on my chrony it shows the change in FPS but I do not notice enough difference out to 300 yards. Seems no difference if storing in unheated garage or when we shoot in the winter everything is cold. You should be fine. Someone mentioned an old fridge, but others feel it's not safe.

Wherever you decide to store ammo/components, be sure you notify your fire department. In the event of an emergency, they really to know what the potential hazards are and location on the property.
