I started using Clay Dot after I couldn't get any clays. What I found out was that I could use a little less powder to get the same results, it's just as clean burning, and it's cheaper. I couldn't tell any difference in recoil. I probably would not haved changed except for the lack of availability of Clays. But, now that I've tried Clay Dot I think I'll just keep using it even when Clays becomes available once again.
Alliant - Clay Dot Claim
From the Alliant Website they make the following statement:
"Designed to duplicate the performance of Hodgdon® Clays™ at an economical price."
With a statement like that, wouldn't it stand to reason it would "duplicate" clays? So why, won't they provide a recipe for a 1200fps load like Hodgdon Clays provides? I asked them this directly as well.
I bought it as an add on to a primer order as clays wasn't available. I should have checked more closely, but relied on their "duplicate the performance" language plastered all over the product.
"Duplicate" is a no in my opinion. Do your own due diligence on this product.
