Adding weight to the stock for swing speed

Recently purchased a citori cxt configured with a 32” barrel, adjustable comb and a slightly raised rib with the intent to only shoot bunker trap.. later to find out the standard for that discipline is a 29-30” barrel to swing the gun as quick as possible (live and learn).

I don’t have the gun in my possession yet and I don’t plan on purchasing another one for a while. The cxt weighs 8lb 12oz and from what I’ve gathered, gun fit + mount and gun balance is key. Too heavy of a barrel will slow the swing speed and too much weight in the stock will make the gun swing more erratic. With this logic, would it make sense to over weight the stock so i can swing the gun quicker for bunker trap OR would it be a better idea to balance the gun, practice a lot and make due with what I have?

I’m fairly short and husky.. 5’6” 175lbs. I held the gun and didnt think it was heavy at all. Is there anyone here that shoots bunker trap well with a 32? I’m also convinced that I’m overthinking everything.
Lots of well intentioned if not misplaced advice in this thread.

I'd start by going and shooting and seeing how things go. Bunker does demand a faster gun. The reason for that is it gives you more time to see the whole clay before your eyes tell you to move the gun. A slower moving gun will compress that timeline. Not saying it won't work, but it could be an issue.

And its not barrel length per se that's the issue, its the inertia of the gun. Longer barrels from the same make usually (key word here) will be slower to accelerate. But comparing between gun makers is where everything usually goes off the rails.
The previous world champion (Derrick Mein) swings his 32" lightweight Kolar barrels quick. I shoot the same gun and can attest that it moves as quick as the 1.5kg 30" Perazzi barrels that are the long time bunker standard.

I started bunker with a different gun (a 30" barreled gun) and did find that I was having trouble getting to the far lefts/rights. Swapped to the 32" Kolar and no issue.

In summary, go shoot and see how it goes. You can always swap for a quicker gun if need be.
