My dad was ships electrician on 2 destroyers and a fleet carrier. He liked the power and speed of the destroyers but liked the carrier best because of the planes.

I told him you guys who survived it saw an era that was historically similar to the real cowboy era. It was unique, short lived, and could never be repeated. In 4 years my folks went from the steam age to the nuclear age.
