I received this notice today in my email and I am impressed with the idea for now.

Don't understand the post 1,3,5 concept. When you rotate it is now post 1,2,4. Are you supposed to not rotate?

Perhaps they intend for each shooter to only shoot posts 1,3,5. In that case post one moves to post three when post five moves to post one. Since it is only practice I guess I wouldn’t have a problem with that. Might actually be good since 2/3rds of your targets would be from the two most difficult posts.

Here is what we're doing at the Minneapolis Gun Club www.mplsgunclub.com

We started it yesterday and it's working well. We are allowing 5 man squads on trap. 3 on skeet due to them wanting to bunch up close to the pad. Social distancing is in effect and people are respecting that.

Minneapolis Gun Club will be open starting Saturday April 18:

Minnesota’s Governor Walz has proclaimed that we can open the outdoor ranges. This will require us to manage the facility differently to keep up social distancing and implement safety protocols for both our customers and employees. In order to facilitate the safe opening of the club we will be instituting a few temporary rules for the shooters to follow.

1 ) Shooters must come out on an appointment basis only. This will be done by calling the Club and scheduling your shooting time. You will need to know the time and number of rounds you wish to shoot. All shooting will be done in consecutive rounds. Upon completion of your rounds in your time slot you must pack up and leave the grounds. You must complete your rounds within the given time slots so the next shooters can take the field. There will not be any socializing on the club property between, before or after rounds.

2 ) Shooters are not allowed into the club house.

3 ) Shooters will not be allowed to touch or adjust the equipment. This includes the voice calls and card readers. The cards will be handed to the puller to have the rounds put on the field. The voice calls are to be set as they are when we open and left alone.

4 ) All Skeet shooting will be done in squads of 3 or less by appointment. Social distancing must be observed, or you will be asked to leave. You will be allowed 15 min per round in the schedule.

5 ) All trap rounds will be done in squads of 5 or less by appointment. You will be allowed 15 min per round in the schedule. Social distancing must be observed, or you will be asked to leave.

6 ) Five stand will be limited to squads of 5 or less by appointment. If you are waiting for the squad ahead to finish you must do so by remaining in or around your vehicle in the lower parking area.

7 ) The Governor’s executive order does not allow for league sports, competitions, tournaments, or team events. We will not be opening to High School Teams or coaching during this time.

In theory each shooter will be at a two post distance from each other when you rotate.
In other words an empty Post between shooters.

Doesn't work that way, theory or not if shooters rotate in conventional manner. Shooter on 5 goes to 1, shooter on 1 goes to 2. only gap will be between posts 2 and 4. Only way it will work is to have shooters only shoot on posts 1,3 and 5.

Not hard to figure out. 1 goes to 3, 3 to 5, 5 to 1. You shoot two of the posts twice.

Recommended a similar system to my Club - they won't go against the State's shutdown.

Seems we need to handle this like we do my grandsons when they fall off their bike or fall chasing his brother. Get up brush it of and do the pain free wiggle dance, (they are 3 and 5) . The club is trying to get us out of the house WORK WITH THEM. Go to the club follow instructions and do the old man wiggle dance when u miss a target!

The 16 yard stations are 9' apart. Should be enough at 50% over the recommended social distance. Start out being over cautious in case some one feels unsafe.

Why not go with a 2 man shoot off with the same distance of shooting 9' in between post.

I have done it a few times per ATA & Club Management requirements in zone shooting.

Arizona is likely to open up soon, which hopefully will include Ben Avery. For about 3 days before Gov. Ducey shut things down, Ben Avery instituted a protocol of allowing in (only) 30 shooters ie. 6 fields, limited to 2 hours, at 8am, 10am, noon, and 2 pm; to close at 4:00. The clubhouse was closed.
THE PROBLEM was that there was no way to shoot without targets on a card, and no way to purchase targets.
When Ben Avery re-opens hopefully they will have installed plexiglass shields in the office so cards can be loaded, and will loosen up the number of shooters on the property. We have abundant fresh air and sunshine (good things), and with a bit of a north wind I can't think of anywhere safer than on the line trap shooting. Unfortunately "hell shooting season" is rapidly approaching.

Norm, Powder Creek is also open. You have to be a member and you are supposed to wear gloves and a mask and always maintain the personal distance mandate while there.

Someone might want to advise them that gloves do little good. Just moves the virus around. Having ample hand sanitizer is recommend. If you use wipes you MUST wait for it to dry to be effective.

I was also thinking shooting on the 23 with full squad and by appointment only once you shoot pack up and leave,I know the leaving part is going to be a problem.Could let the high gun stay and have a shoot off if they want and have enough squads or have the top guns come back to shoot in the same sqaud for a shoot off next sat. or sun.
