I HAD a 1100 special field. The only gun i traded away, and I wish I had it back. 21" barrel, and a nice fast swinging shotgun.

Remington introduced the 870 Special Field in 1984 and made them for 12 years. The first 3 years they were fixed choke guns, but in '86 you could order a Rem Choked barrel. From '87 on Rem Chokes were the only option. Barrel length was 21" until the last 2 years of production where it increased to 23". These guns, especially the 23" models, seem to bring substantially more than book value.

The 1100 Special Field had a longer production run than the 870.
