Looking at the pressures for the 1 1/4 oz loads it seems like it would work for 1 1/8 oz too. But I could not find any load data.

This might do better in the Reloading forum. Watch the pressure numbers low is as bad as high.

572 is quite slow on the burn chart, next to Blue Dot. I'd bet the only 1 1/8oz loads you'll find, if any, are VERY magnum loads.

Slow powder suitable for small gauge, or very heavy shot loads in 12 gauge.
It's not a powder for target loads in 12 gauge.

Seems like with an 1 1/8 oz shot in a 1 1/8 oz AA type wad would yield a similar or slightly slower speed at a reasonable pressure. Probably 8500-9500 PSI.

Win. 572 powder is a small gauge powder. Its perfect for 20 and 28 ga. loads in the Win. HS AA hulls. Its not a 12 ga. target powder. break em all Jeff

I like to shoot games. When I ran out of IMR 4756, I started using Win 572. It was a reasonably good replacement. I shoot 1 1/4 oz loads.
please check load published data for safe loads.

Scott, 572 is a new(recent) powder. You may be thinking about Win 571, which was discontinued several years ago.

Yes Scott that was 571 which was considerably more forgiving/versatile than 572 in my opinion.

Sorry, My bad, we used it at meat shoots. It was our behind the fence loads. I remember my brother hit one and the guys stepped it off, it was 45 yards behind the house.

They do still make Winchester 571, except now it's called Hodgdon HS-7. If you liked Winchester 540, it's now HS-6.

EDIT: Correction, HS-7 is now discontinued too. HS-6 is still around.
