bubba I have used longshot for 28 gauge you cannot get to 1300 f.p.s. and be safe ,I now use PRO REACH which in my opinian is a much nicer powder for 20 and 28 gauge loads It will go to 1300 in both gauges and have less recoil, pressure and noise you will love it Jon
My Longshot data for 3/4 oz load lists for Federal Plastic w/ Win 209 primer
28S1 wad 16.9 Longshot @ 1300fps 11,900psi
Remington STS hull w/Win209 primer 3/4 oz shot 16.2 Longshot @1300fps and pressures are 12,200psi this is their lowest PSI
None shown for the Winchester AAHS or Super-X HS hulls max is 1275Fps
and that Data is using 800-X 15.4 Grs w/Win 209 primer and Rem P128 wad and 3/4 oz shot
I wish this thread was started a week ago. I just bought another 8# of 20/28. The data for Pro Reach shows much higher velocities at ~ the same pressure.
Pro reach. Now you might want to look at Downrange's web site. I believe Ben and Kevin have got their heads together and come up with some 1300 fps loads using AAHS's and 20/28 with DR wads. I really appriciate their work and controbutions to the shooting sports.
claybrd, Are the recipes in their manual or where can I find them? I wouldn't use a lot of them but it might be handy to have for some sporting shots. Thanks.
I don't know what "clays" you're shooting but you're cheating if you use 7/8s oz in Sporting Clays (if that matters).
