Used to be a speed freak and had a few 26-28" tubes. Now, not so much. Still have a 26" barreled 250AI, and my daughter's 7-08AI, but have moved towards 22-23" barrels on most stuff. One of my 6mmBR's is 20" and it shoots tiny little groups
I have a SBE with a 26” barrel, shot it well for years, my new over under has 30” and is the same overall length as the automatic. So to me barrel length is but one part of the whole feel of the gun.
It depends what I am hunting but I use them all in my 1100 Rem 26 inch IMP. 28 inch Mod. & 30 inch Full choke.
I have 26 inch barrel on my 11-87 20ga but am looking for a 28 inch also
I have no choice in my 28ga 1100 as I have all 26 inch barrels.
This might sound dumb, but I have shot the majority of my grouse and woodcock with a Stoeger coach gun with 20” barrels I believe. Helps to get a shot off in thick brush and with the right choke it really doesn’t pattern too bad!
