12 Ga. Reduced Payload Inertia Issues

Just curious if anyone has worked up a 12 gauge load that shot soft enough for the inertia trigger to not reset?

I built quite a few 7/8 oz loads and slowed the speed down to what the recipe allowed and still had a sufficient amount of pressure… Not that I have any aspirations of reducing the load any further, but I have found the loads shoot just fine with out any issues through my inertia guns.. Made me wonder how close to the edge I actually am?

I have shot a LOT of 3/4oz at ~1200fps through my Browning XT and never had a problem with the inertia block not transferring. These loads will not cycle any auto, gas or inertia, that I have tried them in.
Anecdotal evidence, (forum discussion) says that 7/8 and less is not reliable, but that really depends on energy, not payload.

May try some .75s at 1000fps to see if fire control still functions :)

Yea, I do have the bushings to load a 3/4 oz at about 1150 with powder I have but I haven’t bought any wads to try them out.. Didn’t really want to get into a situation where I experiment with wads and get a bad stack height and then have to buy a specific powder to chase something out of curiosity that might not shoot in my gun. 🤦‍♂️

I shoot 3/4 oz 12 gauge shells a lot, in a variety of O/Us. Never a problem with resetting triggers. Occasionally I have a fail to eject in some semi-autos. Because they are such soft shooting, and benefit from a bit more velocity, to break targets, I bump up the speed, which also helps in the semis.
