I recall examining one closely, and it looked like a separate piece. If that was the case it would have to be shrunk in, or inother words interference fit.

Used to do outer bearing races that way. Like the folks say, a spot of tig weld dressed up ;with a Dremel will suffice. Or a Nylok set screw.
