I know that from pattern testing (on paper with my gun, not just read it somewhere) it worked well with Federal Black Cloud loads. I think the design here is more for hunting options when using a single choked gun. When I was doing a lot of duck hunting I used to load the first 2 shells as Rem Nitro 1-1/4oz steel 4s and the last one as a federal black cloud 1-1/4oz #2. Out of my skeet choke the 4s had a 30” circle around 25-30 yards and the federal black cloud was at 30” at 35-40 yards. It delayed the pattern expansion by about 10 yards. So close ducks were easy with the 4s and the last shot got the ducks heading out. It’s just a concept that double barrel hunters have used forever. First shot more open choke and last shot tighter.
