What does your club prefer to shoot? I find the orange with black rimmed targets a little easier to spot vs the all orange clays which sometimes can seem like a bit of a blur vs crisp....or is it just me.
Was waiting for somebody to say that. Agree that open sky( clear day) , I prefer the orange with a small black rim but, green back ground ( trees), I much prefer all orange . The same with dark gloomy weather (all orange). I shot in the desert once when they were throwing "Green targets". Those showed up pretty well against the sand.Too many people (clubs) fail to understand that the decision depends entirely on the background. If you have sky background across all your fields, black rim. If ANY of your fields throw targets into trees, you're doing your customers a huge disservice by throwing anything but all orange, since the targets visually become 1/2 height targets when thrown into trees. You're also rolling the dice on weather with black rim, dark and rainy and you've got the same issue as throwing them into trees.
My scores matter to me and I can see all orange much better in a solid green back ground but, like the black rimmed ones against a sunny clear sky. My eyes are not an excuse but I do know what I can see better.Shoot what they shoot at the Grand And most major competitions. Black rimmed. If scores don’t matter then shoot whatever. Black rim makes you shoot a little more precisely. If it’s not all orange, it’s just another excuse.
