Trigger guard on a Savage 555 broke in half. Is there a way to repair this?.
We already tried J.B. Weld. It broke again after the first shot, post cured.

P.S. no replacement part is available.

I was brought a trigger guard that theaded in on one end and had a screw hole on the other.
The threaded post was broken off the guard. It was made of an alloy and the owner thought I could just weld it together.
I did not debate that with him.
I put the two pieces together, held in a vise. I drilled a hole that aligned both pieces and tapped the hole for a common screw thread.
Using a high grade cap screw and some thread locker, I adjoined the two pieces.
Blending in little gray JB weld, hid the crack line perfectly.
I cut the screw end and head off and blended them into the shape of the trigger guard.
I wanted to polish the whole thing, it looked so good, but thought better, as it was supposedly off an antique firearm.
If your broken part has enough material for a hole, you might adjoin them with a rod or threaded rod.
Good luck,

I am seeing some unbelievable pieces come out of 3D printers. I do not know how they input the dimensions, but they make gears, emblems, etc. A trigger guard should be a piece of cake.
Might check with the person making MEC bushings and dogbones, on one of the shooters sites.

I was going to suggest a welding shop, I've had a lot of stuff turned, burned, brazed, and sometimes amazed, of course your results and local skill varies. I had good luck with some parts, had new firing pins made for an old gun once, parts were turned out in a afternoon. Might be worth a try.
