After a quick look at the Evo shotguns. Since I have not heard of them!!! Its just a between the hands only way of adding weight to the shotgun. The side plates and be added or removed. Or maybe fall off when your not looking???

If you want to add weight to your Z-gun. You can, Just add some lead shot in the stock hole, and/or have skeet_man make you some under the forearm brass weights to add to the front of the shotgun. You can do this for under $100 bucks. I have No Idea how much more $$$ the Evo gun line is. I expect after you buy the shotgun, you then have to pay even more $$$ for the different side plate weights. To me, adding weight between your hands does little to nothing to balance the shotgun to your desired likes, and dislikes. Blazer has barrel weights, and stock weights for this purpose.
I know the Z-gun adj. HR shotguns are very desirable right now. New, or Used ones are hard to find. Either way, I'm sure you enjoy your Zoli shotgun. Good Luck picking the one right make for you!!! break em all jeff

I recently picked up a Zoli Z Sport MR and couldn’t be happier. It is a soft shooting gun that just gets more enjoyable to shoot. I don’t know much about the evo but I don’t think you could go wrong with either choice.

My brother has an Evo. I had a Z-Sport with the Bilanx-BHB system. Beware that you must remove the stock to change the weight on the Evo, so its not a quick-change system for the field. If that is what you are looking for, you are better of having Zoli install the Bilanx-BHB system on a standard gun. That system uses weights that fit in a cylinder in the grip that can be added or removed fairly quickly in the field. Once you have the right balance, you are unlikely to change it, so I think either system is probably not worth any extra $$. You can get to the same point by adding your own weight to the stock or barrel.

One advantage of the Evo system is that it allows you to change the look of the gun by changing the color of side plate. They make a number of different colors, but they are not cheap. If I could get a used Evo for the same price as the standard Z-Sport, I'd definitely do it for the looks and slightly increased resale value.

The EVO is Zoli's answer to the Perazzi Hi Tec with heaver side plated action to which they allude to less recoil with more centered weight.
The Zoli version gives you the option of different weights and finishes.

Having the ability to add or tune weight between the hands is a nice advantage to a gun. Perhaps not for trap, but in other games where you swing the gun more, weight between the hands is more desirable than weight in the stock or on the barrels. I believe the physics term is moment of inertia but don't quote me on that. Think of two dumbbells with same weight but one has the plates in the middle vs the other on the ends. Now consider trying to point that dumbbell precisely.

IMO, the Evo is a more tunable gun than the Z, however the Z has significant weight in the action already. One of the reasons it's becoming more popular in sporting. In spite of that, I much prefer the look of a naked Z to the Evo, especially one with the thicker side plates. I think the BHB is almost as good as the Evo without the gaudy appearance.

The reason Blasers come with stock and fore-end weights is because the receiver iron is undersized, weight wise, compared to the other guns in its class, I've been told. I have not put various receivers on a scale as I do not have that kind of $ or those kinds of friends. If you handle these guns though you can tell.

So, Both the EVO and the BHB offer a means of adding weight somewhere near to or between the hands. The BHB allows for addition of weight into the pistol grip and between the barrels, behind the forend. The upside is that you can make small incremental adjustments without a lot of fussing around. it is also less expensive than the Evo option. The EVO allows for the addition or removal of differently weighted side plates. This does involve removal of the buttstock. And the weight increments are larger than those offered by the BHB. BUT...the additional weight is 100% between the hands!! So, if you want to add some weight and play with the balance point, BHB is for you. If you want to add weight and increase the speed of your pointing/insertion ahead of the target, then EVO is for you. If you hold the gun by your side parallel to the ground, with your hand around the action and twist your hand right/left right, it swings/changes direction very very quickly. The EVO is the Zoli equivalent of the Perazzi Hi Tech, except that you can change the weights of the Zoli and I believe the Perazzi is fixed. FWIW...I have a Z-sport with custom stock and do not want to sell it to buy an EVO, so what I am trying is taking the barrel weights (powerful, rare earth magnets) that came with my BHB and I have put them all on the underside of the action, just ahead of the trigger. Unobtrusive, variable weight in 0.1 oz. increments. It looks great, and is very very inexpensive. But I will know on Wednesday if the recoil causes the weights to shift.. or not.
