Yes this is an ongoing topic discussed, with little scientific/actual proof, but I still like to hear people’s take on the brand of chokes they use and why?

if anyone can please share the chokes you use and why you prefer them, I’d much appreciate. I will start.

I shoot an auto- A-400 xcel and use pure gold titanium diamond series chokes.

I also shoot an over / under - k80 with Briley chokes.

reason for Briley w/k80- they are thin walled and fit the gun (parcours).

Reason for pure gold- was told they pattern well. No proof, no comparison, no reason in essence other than the referral to use them.

I had issues with the Beretta factory chokes in my 391 coming loose too often for my liking. I got tired of constantly tightening them while I was still shooting!!!!!!

So I had Briley make me 3 custom chokes for my 391. This solved my issues and I don't have to tighten my chokes while shooting anymore!!! I had Briley make me the Midas Grade chokes, with Beretta's Optima threads on them, with the Gold Rings. I really liked these chokes on both of my Browning shotguns. So, I had one made in Sk. for all my skeet shooting. One made in LM, for all my sporting clays shots on easy courses. Where all my shots were inside 45 yards. I had one choke made in Improved Modified for the hard courses. Where the closer shots are @ 35 yards and beyond. Never felt the need for any other chokes. Just buy some quality chokes, and be done with it. If you can't trust your chokes, then buy a brand of choke that you can trust. break em all Jeff

Most often I shoot sporting clays with my Blaser F3 with two original Blaser full chokes. I don't do very well on the rabbits, but I shoot fine on the rest of the stations. I will take "Tomato stake" advice and try IC on Sunday to see if I will do any better.

I've been shooting sporting clays for 2 years now(previously Trap for 43 and 500K rounds). I really liked the Briley's in my Citori and had Wright's for my Kolar. I now shoot an A400 with Comp-N-Choke ARC series and really like those. There's so many good brands out there now and I think the technology has evolved to a level that exceeds most shooters abilities. Personally i'd recommend whatever you think will make you shoot better, but also think are some of these chokes worth double what others are???

As of this month I have been shooting clay targets for 61 years, some good years and some bad. For sporting, it depends on the course as I am not keen on swapping chokes when I start a round. For most club courses a IC and LM work well for me, and tougher longer courses an LM/Mod works well.
Saying that on occasions I like to shoot my English SxS which is a tight mod and full. I tend to swap between #7 1/2, 8's and 9 shot depending on the target. These chokes are tight and it makes me keep my head hard on the stock and my brain focused. I think a lot of the time it's what's between your ears that count not the choke.

I shoot the factory Zoli that came with my gun, I was very impressed with the work on a patterning board how consistent an choke change was. I was very predictable on how much the pattern restricted or opened up, based on the change of the tube i was using. It was not like my experience with others when often a change in restriction was hardly noticeable in pattern.

Sporting Clays I shoot a K -80 and a Browning Cynergy mostly. IC/LM by Comp-N-Choke. I believe in them and trust them. And I like the breaks I get with them. Trap I'm shooting a KX-5 with a Meuller choke. Change numbers depending on yardage attained for league.

Citori crossover target with factory chokes. On the course with closer shots I’ve used imp cyl and modified. But I’ve also shot it with imp mod and full and broke about the same. I have absolutely no scientific evidence or knowledge but I did stay in a holiday inn express last night.

Shoot a 32" Beretta 694 with Briley Titanium chokes only because I got a great deal on them.

Or a 30" Beretta 686 Onyx Pro Sporting with Beretta Victory or Briley stainless chokes

I choose chokes depending on the course.

Usually IC or LM in both barrels, change if the presentation warrants it.

One course here I shoot sometimes, IM over M because the targets are longer distances.

I am a choke changer. I use the the best constrictions for the presentation. I will favor being a little tight rather than more open. That said I do not have duplicate constrictions, just one of each from Cylinder to X-Full.

I watched Jeff smoke targets at the Big Seafood blast, despite using those crummy Winchester shells 😉. Not sure if it was just the chokes, Jeff. You were shooting great!
