Was wondering what shot size people are using for the 410. The Beretta should be available in a week and want to load up some hulls I have had acquired. Trap shooting and have no experience with the small bore.

.410 trap? That’s my game. I load 3 inch W/W HS with 11/16 of 7.5. Add some powdered graphite to your shot, listen for shot drop, tap the drop tube if you have shot bridging. MEC Sizemaster does a great job.
I also have a short kit to load 2.5 inch shells, 7.5 shot for close in SCs.

When I was a boy many Skeet shooters did not have a 28 gauge gun and would shoot 3” .410 in the 28 event. Back then many small bore events were only 50 targets so men did not think it was worth buying a gun just for that. They would just use their model 42’s with 3” chambers with 11/16 or WW made a 3/4 ounce shell.

Push the velocity to 1300 fps. Most factory regardless of what's written on the box. Actually is 1300+. #9 for skeet. #8 for most other games. #8.5 works quite well on 5 stand. Type of shooting. I have used Eagle #7.5 for sporting clays. It runs on the small side of specification. Therefore it does not bridge in my 9000E.
If limited to one size . I would use #8. For everything.

I use 8 1/2s for mostly all gauges, for target loads. I really enjoy it and it seems to work really well in the .410

Ditto!!!

I would only reload #8 shot in the idiot stick if I was shooting targets beyond 40 yards!!! Stick with #8 1/2 sized shot.
PS the 3 inch shells have so much more shot. You can't load them near as fast as you can reload the 2 1/2 inch shells. You have to remember their is no crush section in the wad in the baby bore. So the shot is sitting right on top of the powder. So you don't have the room to add more powder in a 3 inch shell to push, to push the 3/16 oz. of shot any faster!!!
Buy some #8 1/2 shot now, you'll be glad you did. break em all jeff
