Here's a question: does a ported barrel affect the distance that shot travels? Since the ports allow some of the gas, and energy, to be displaced from going out the end of the barrel, I know it dampens muzzle jump; not so much recoil. But does this also reduce the energy behind the shot itself, thereby reducing the distance the shot flies? (Since I don't have a long handicap, I haven't noticed any change in the appearance of targets breaking when using the barrel, with 7 & 1/2, 2 & 3/4, 1200 fps, 3 dr. equivalent AA's.) Thanks for any info, or direction to any former posts and discussion. Just curious.
