Interested to hear opinions on students use of side shield/ blinders.

  • what age / skill level is it helpful (for more advanced shooters 90%+ only)?
  • recommendations of where to find type that mount on a hat visor?

Here is a link to the clip ons for hats

There is also a hat with built in blinders, once offered by Shotgun Sports Magazine.

perfect, thank you!

Makes sense; I was thinking primarily to reduce distractions/ help w/ focus but can understand benefit of less glare too.
Helps shooters concentrate and not be upset seeing Ramrod in his tutu next to you.

Same here. White Flyer blinders held up really well. 2 pair would last me all year.
“back in the day”……….we made our own using empty shell boxes. Took a couple minutes using a pen or pencil, pair of scissors, and a hole punch.

I've done the same in the past, but it's sure easier to stop in white flyer and grab a few. I've posted this before and bet you remember those days, but remember picking up used wads, washing them and reusing em? Glad those days are gone!!! Lol.

We never even went to the trouble of punching holes in them...........just tore them to fit and stuck them between the side struts of our glasses and our temples.

Yours was a stout bunch……..or were you not allowed to have scissors? :)

Not that I am any kind of foremost authority on youth, , but I had had a bunch of young shooters needing blinders, I would show them how to make their own,,,,,,,….unless their parents don’t allow them to have scissors.
