Bought a new BT99 Plus three years ago. The only thing that is adjustable is the comb, receiver engraving, and grade three wood. If I had it to do over I would save my self a $1000, and buy the BT99 with the adjustable comb and recoil pad. I do prefer the ejectors. These new plusses are not the same as the old true plusses. Just my opinion.

With the research I’ve done, your the first person I’ve seen say they’ve regretted getting the Plus over the base model.

I have both of the BTs you mention, the plus has an adjustable comb and the AR does not. The adjustable rib on the AR does not adjust much, there’s a screw on the back of the rib that allows the rear to travel up and down, and there is a roll pin in the front that can be removed to two different holes to adjust sight picture. Also the blueing on the plus is much darker than the blueing on the AR. Almost forgot to mention the wood on the plus is oil finished instead of lacquer, and slightly better in grade. They both however have the square “competition” style forend as apposed to the beaver tail. You also get engraving and an ejector on the plus.

What’s your pick out of the two?

I let my wife pick which one she liked more as her first trap gun, she liked the plus more. I took the AR and made it my games gun. I personally shoot a kolar for ATA. It depends what you find more important, an adjustable comb to me personally is nice, the adjustable rib is also nice but like I mentioned it does not move much. It’s going to run you somewhere in the ballpark of $500 to make the ARs stock adjustable with a comb and recoil pad. I do think the plus is a bit nicer, I also know it’s a bit more pricey as well.

Ive been away from the sport several years now but I’m looking into buying a new gun. What would be everyone’s choice between a BT-99 AR and the new model BT-99 Plus? Thanks.
I received a BT-99 from my grandfather back in 1977 for graduating high school, I never shot it, it's been sitting in it's case since then. My dad would not let me take it to college (I wonder why?????)
