Tim has tested the shot in both brands. It appears that Lawrence Brand shot is mostly about 3 1/2 to 4% antimony shot range. While the Eagle Shot runs more like 2% antimony shot. This is the result of actual testing by a shooter here using a drop test method device that he uses to test shot in everything we shoot. No matter if its factory loads or shot in bags from reloaders across the country. He is a Engineer by trade. So he is meticulous in his work and findings!!!
So if your shooting targets at distance??? Especially if your shooting ATA, or the NSCA. You should be using the Lawrence Brand shot. IMO, shooting skeet targets does not require that hard of shot. However I still load Lawrence Brand shot in all my NSSA loads!!! I have been known to use the Eagle shot for practice targets only. I see little difference in my target breaks that close to the targets though. Good Luck to Ya. break em all Jeff

Does Lawrence have a better magnum shot over Eagle? Lawrence is a little higher price
Generally, yes.

But my data is a bit dated since I have not tested recent samples of either.

I will buy a bag or two of whatever I can get at the Grand to see how the hardness is.

But in the past, Lawrence/West Coast (they come from the same factory) has generally tested harder than Eagle.

I I remember correctly, I think you'll find that Eagle shot will run a little smaller than Lawrence/ West Coast. I've loaded a lot of Eagle for 16's and the first shot of doubles , but in 1oz. of 7 1/2's.

I'm guessing heper 6% will be the new winner. Anxious to see your results. The strong dollar right now makes Heper, eagle and other import / foreign brands much cheaper.

I've already tested two different batches of HEPER 6% magnum shot. Both were very hard.

I have loaded shot from $5.99 per bag to prices of today all brands, seems as though I can drop targets with any I have loaded. With today’s prices I’m just thankful to find a cheaper bag to shoot. Maybe in the hands of a professional they can show me the difference, my ability well it’s lacking at times. Last night was one of those times…shot horribly. But I’ll be back!
