Rem 1100 vs 870 for trap

I'm thinking about reentering trap shooting after a looooooooooooooooong spell away from the sport, I was shooting an 870 TB (IIRC) MC stock. with the stock drilled for recoil reducers, Timney trigger, (I even tried a timney Release trigger for a while) and barrel work.

Did Remington produce a 1100 trap gun with a MC stock

Well, "RemArms" is producing guns, and the 870 "Fieldmaster" is actually better than the 870 Express, and equal to Wingmasters made from about 1993 until the split up/sale of Remington.

So get/ make a shell catcher. A thick rubber band is a field expedient method, there is also the 'piano wire' one, there's the Birchwood Casey flip-up wire one, and if you can find one, the TS clamp on one is the best. The Seymour 'pickle fork' one works, too, but is pretty much relegated to collector status.

A new shooter picked up a Beretta A300 at Runnings. It was around $850.00. I help her set up the stock, as it has shims to adjust the drop and spacers to change LOP. I felt the shim change made it feel more like a trap gun than a field gun. She has not shot it yet, she is waiting until spring.

From my research Remington is still producing guns just not the 870 express any longer. They only list the Fieldmaster and Wingmaster on their website.

As for which gun, I say shoot whatever your preference is. It is true that semi autos will have softer recoil but pump guns seem to be cheaper. However if you decide to go with an 870 I would recommend changing the butt pad to a kick eez or something else as the stock one is hard as a rock.
