Been digging around in the page and have found a few posts but let’s get one going. Looking to see what you guys have used and works well for you. Looking at maybe trying some 1.250 ounce loads myself for the really far out shots. Have only been loading 1.125 for the time being.

I only load rem sts hull win 209 and 29gr longshot claybuster 1.25 wad 7.5 shot call bird 6 for second and third shot 4’s for the long stuff. The picture is from a protector meat shoot last weekend. My son and I did well. View attachment 1848279
Looks like you guys did well. What was are you using. I have a couple of bags of Waa12’s on my bench. Think I could use that?

Just what do you call long shots, 70-80yds or more? If so then in my option you should buffer and use minimum shot size 5 with consideration of 4’s. Try to find you a load that incorporates buffer tested data for LONGSHOT and buffer.

Yes 70-80 yards I’ve been shooting 7 1/2 for call birds and using 6 for follow ups. Not really looking for a buffered load as I load on a sl900

You can still buffer your loads regardless of the loader, it is hand scaled, added by hand, and then crimped. I use a 600jr for all my speciality loads like this. And l as well use Loudshot and Nickel or Copper shot with buffer. 1-1/4 to 1-3/8ths and will go as far as you want to walk. 60-80yds is normal. Past is not unheard of.

Obviously I shoot smaller than some it appears, but 27 gr with 1.25 of 6 does fanatastic. We even shot some Annie rounds at 50yrd behind the house. Broke plenty of call and back up with that shell.
REM hull and cheddite / claybuster wads

+1 for the 29 grains of longshot with 1.25 ounces shot. You can go more but 29 is like a marshmallow and plenty fast enough.
