The current crop of mid range Berettas are higher priced and lower quality than the 682s (and are uglier).

692 was an absolute flop (as was the SV10), and the 694 is also showing some potential design deficiencies (cracked/disintegrated forends).

The best Beretta clay target guns ever produced were the 303, the 682 Greystone, and the ASE90 Greystone. Every iteration afterword was a lateral or backward move, with an increase in price.

I realize that you need to offer new products once you've saturated your current market, but once you've already reached the pinnacle, and there is no real technology advancement in the field, you're just putting on window dressing and jacking up the price.

I know the most famous Trap Shooter of all times was Leo Harrison and Shot a Beretta 682X to win many times at the Grand American.

So does this claim to fame have something to do with the high demand ?

I've noticed, their has been $500 + increase on Beretta 682 Sporting & Trap models while Skeet models pricing has remained leveled below those models. The 682 E Sporting with 32" barrels running mid 3's or higher the last few months. As with any used target guns condition is king, the higher the condition the top end of pricing levels. The 680 & 682 & ASE 90 were strongest most dependable O/U during its tenure, those die hard 680 series owners can't own just one.

I agree with skeet on this, the older 682 guns are standing the test of time and value for your money. Also with inflation what it is the price of quality used goes up in unison.

As far as Leo or anyone else using one I do not think so as many shooters buying the older 680 series guns unfortunately do not know of Leo and his accomplishments.

I must admit the 694 (2021 model) is not the quality of my 682X (1988 model) for 3 times the price. They couldn't even get the end bead in the center of the rib, or adjustable cheek piece base installed correctly, or clean all the crap out of trigger group so second barrel would fire, or finish stock correctly, I think that was all so far!!

I lucked out and picked up 2 very low round count early 682s last year for about $1800 for each. Had them both fitted with factory new 30" Gold E Optima barrels and PFS stocks. Phillip's fitted the barrels, installed new J&P kits, and did the trigger conversions. With the heavier receiver and the Opitma barrels I call it my poor man's Perazzi High Tech. They are now my competition skeet guns after many years of shooting Kreighoff and a short time with Kolar. I shoot the 682 just as well(actually better than I was shooting the Kolar), will be a hell of a lot less $ to get repaired, and will definitely last til the end of my shooting days. I also bought a couple of Browning 725 Skeet models around the same time to compare and there really was no comparison in quality. Can't say I wouldn't still buy at today's prices, but I probably would have only bought one.

Here's one of them:

I've shot a Beretta 682x since late 90's. I messed around and sold my 687 EELL Trap model prior to the 682x and other than looks the old X is just as nice less the fancy wood and the fake engraving!!! As far as price goes on these older Beretta's it's understandable that they command a fairly upped price. You can't wear it out and if it does get a little loose Phillip can make it new again for not much expense! I wouldn't take 3 grand for mine and I didn't pay half that much for it. These old quality guns won't do anything but get older and higher in price....................My back up for the Beretta is a MX10 RS with Wilkinson worked barrels. I like my old Beretta......

Missed one-bottom barrel shoots 2" lower than top at 13yds.

I agree, as I own 3 682's and 3 303's as well. They just work!

They are really well built guns. The fact that they have a stepped rebuild system is really convenient, with the bolt being (1).15,(2).30,over. Their mainspring repacement is much easier, and easily adjustable. Switch the trunnions for the first barrel adjustment, then get larger ones as part of their stepped fitting system to push the barrel back into the receiver. gun will be back to locking up like new.
