How Old is the MEC 650?

Lots of discussions about the MEC 650 and I wondered how old they are. I got mine, very used, from a fellow in 1976. Many thousands through it after I got and many before it I presume.

I have a bicycle style handle-grip as well. The wooden ones look cool …are they?

I have one of each, both purchased used. I do not know the age, but I will say, the bicycle handled one works flawless, while the newer one sometimes has issues. The wooden handle is nice, but not worth the aggravation I can get when trying to use it.

Unless I am mistaken they were available new until recently, like the past year or so. I have one, always considered it a poor mans Grabber. lol. I also have a Grabber and looks like the parts interchange. 650 has no resizer but is similar otherwise I think. I have a 650 in 28 gauge and 12 gauge. Good reloaders.

My MEC-650 has '82' stamped in the base from the factory. Purchased new in '82 or '83 with my father and brother. Wooden handle. Still makes shells just fine. Replaced a few plastic parts to keep it rolling.

A buddy of mine bought his new in 1965 and sent it back to MEC for a rebuild about 20 yrs ago because he’d worn a groove into the top plate.

I bought mine used and it was an early model with only the spring on the tube holder for the powder drip tube.

Got mine back in about 1970. Sent in once for rebuild. Has been working flawless on both CF AA and STS hulls. I do have the separate case conditioner to resize and knock out primers.

I first had a mec 600 Jr in 1964, then a 650 from 72 - mid-late 80's, then a 9000G and added a 9000GN... keep them clean and lubed and they'll last.

I have a mec super 600 which is a progressive like the 650. Maybe the four runner of the 650?

yes the Super 600 was the progressive forerunner to the 650 .
I still loadFederal Papers on a my Super 600
Smooth as silk .
