Has anyone done any business with Macon Gunstocks? He's in the right part of the country (Warsaw, MO), but I don't know him.
As usual, any help much appreciated.

Yes, they are nice people. However i needed a stock built for my wife. I drove from central Oklahoma to deliver the gun myself to save a couple of days delivery. She needed the gun in 4 months explained that to them, they said no problem. Left the gun received it 8 months later in the mean time had to buy her a gun to shoot at the event she needed the stock for.
Quality I have no problem with, service another matter.
I used to order from Bishop. I once ordered an unfinished model 12 stock from Bishop and it took VEY little fit and finish work and it was excellent . Sadly they no longer offer a trap stock for a model 12 anymore . I recently ordered an UNFINISHED model 12 stock from "Macon Stocks". What I got was something that LITERALLY looked like it was cut out of a rough lumber BARN DOOR !!! To say it was horrible would be a drastic understatement ! I do not have the woodworking tools to finish it and I am stuck with a CLUB that they won't take back. You can research other comments about them here on this site .I'm sure you will find MOST are negative and I wish I had done this before I ordered from them .
I’ve ordered two do it yourself stocks from Macon. They were quality stocks as ordered and delivered in a timely fashion. I have heard stories from people otherwise
Don't know about Macon so I won't comment.
I (and a friend who recommended them to me) HAVE had work done by Show Me Gunstocks and they were first rate.
I asked if they would inlet a forearm for a Mod 12 out of my blank and they agreed. FIRST RATE and the price was very reasonable. The only dig I have on them is that they only post on Face Book. IF you get them on the phone, they are super nice.

Possibly Show me does good work if they supply the wood but I've had less than stellar duplication service not one time but twice and the last time . It took at less 6 months start to finish to duplicate and it was rougher than sandpaper toilet paper. Only good thing I can say is I met Jim Tolliver through them . To tell the truth I believe a blind beaver duplicated it . I sent Donnie a email with a picture of it he said it looks a little rough.

I’ve been working with Brian and Vickie at Macon Gunstocks for years. Right now we’re restocking my Winchester Mod 21 20ga to a straight grip. They do great work and usually done before before estimated date.
Stockmaking is in Brian’s family. His Dad was a manager at Bishop Stocks, took me on a tour of Bishop about 35 years ago!
You must have a relative there. Your first post digs up a four year-old thread. I find it strange that the same thing happened in the other thread that is on the same page.
And Post #13 below yours is the same thing, a person's First post defending a shop that typically received poor reviews on here. Isn't that interesting.....
I used Macon Gunstocks for a Marlin Model 90 over/under shotgun I was helping a friend repair. The friend's dad had acquired a new buttstock and forearm but could not get them to fit the gun. The buttstock was not useable, and the forearm did not fit correctly. I had a couple of discussions with Vicki and Brian before and after I sent them the gun. I requested a new buttstock fitted to the gun, and if possible, adjust the forearm or replace if unable to fit it to the gun. Also, I asked if they could provide a new butt plate. The discussions went very well, with Brian even offering me tips on gun finishing and gun restoration. It took about a month to get the gun back. The new buttstock was high quality wood and fitted perfectly. The forearm was able to be re-used and was perfectly fitted to the barrel, and the butt plate fit perfectly as well. I was very satisfied with Macon Gunstocks and would recommend them to anyone.
I just realized that this thread is 4yrs old but what the heck, it's had recent activity. So, anyone else who may be shopping for replacement wood for a Model 12 ... there's also High Plains Gunstocks, located in Lincoln, NE. They have a website and a photo gallery depicting some of their work.
I purchased a checkered buttstock and a checkered forearm ... to spruce up one of my M-12, 12ga field guns there last year. It was well finished and also fit the gun perfectly. And the price was also less than most of the stuff I'd been seeing listed for sale on Ebay. Merely another option.
