I acquired some long shot from a friend and I see there isn't much for reloading data for 12 gauge witch is all I shoot, did I miss something or does someone have a load for 11/8 that isn't in the 1400 fps range. can it be loaded down if so how far. Thanks for the help Jeff

I have used Longshot exclusively as a powder for 1.25 oz hunting loads using the tables provided by Hodgdon. It's a bit stout for 1.125 oz, providing velocities that are not suitable for target loads. In a Federal Gold Medal hull and a Federal 209A primer, a Fed S4 and 30.2 grains, it will do some business for you on pheasants. Put a bead on shotgun reloading data | Hodgdon Reloading

Dense slow burning powders are not suitable for lower velocity in the 1 1/8 oz. shot weight range.

Hope it was FREE, thats a lot of powder (by weight) to use for 1 shot.
My long range pheasant load is 9/8 oz #5 Nickel Lead in a Fiocch hull, Windjammer wad over 38.9 gr Longshot. Hodgdon data predicted 1585 fps at 9400 psi. Lab tested at 1582 fps at 8282 psi.

I will next try 9/8 oz #6 Nickel Lead in Federal hulll, Windjammer wad over 34.2 gr of Longshot. Hodgdon data predicts 1420 fps at 7100 psi.

LongShot is designed for high velocity 12 ga shells.
I you want to load down you are better of using 1 1/4 oz. Your psi is going to be two low for a consistent burn at reduced velocity 1 1/8 oz.

.Put 30-31 grains of longshot in a federal top gun paper base hull, federal gold medal hull, or federal paper hull, 12S3 wad or red 8 clay buster wad with 1-1/8 oz. of good hard 7.5’s, sevens, sixes, or fives and watch destroyed targets fall from the sky at long ranges all year long........proven fact over and over again for 20 years.

Jerry, yes essentially what I’m loading as the red 8 clay buster is a 12c1 replacement. I’ve just downloaded it to achieve the desired velocity at our high altitude.......works very well

If you download make sure you use a hot primer Federal 209A. How I know is through a bad experience at my local club. A few years back there was a shortage of USA made primers. I ordered some sleeves of Noble Sport 686 at a cost much cheaper. Well, one person gave me some crap and said he wanted some good primers after using the 686 primers with Long Shot for games Annies, etc. They did not work for him. If he had told me what he was using them for I would not have sold him the 686 primers. I was just trying to help in the primer shortage.
