Hello Shooters,
I need help in removing a forearm from an 870. I purchased the tool from Brownells with no luck . The tool was delivered today wrapped in paper towels , the T handle is bent and metal shavings inside the tube. The diameter of the spanner wrench is the same size of the magazine tube? Can someone advise me ? 12 ga reciver 12 ga wrench
Thank you,
Jim Z

If you don't know how to do that:
Make sure the gun is unloaded.
With the magazine cap removed (as you have it in the photo), also remove the fire control (easier to see into the receiver)
Gently pull forward on the forend and remove it from the mag tube. You might have to jiggle the action bar to get it to release.
Once you have the forend with action bar separated, you can use the tool to remove the action bar from the forend.

When you take the forearm off, the bolt assembly comes out as well. The plate under the bolt can be used as the tool to remove the forearm ring. No need for a special (expensive) tool from Brownell.
