I got an envelope in the mail yesterday, but unfortunately I don't know the screen name of the fellow who sent it to me, so I'm posting the results here.

Walter Shimer sent me a small sample of bagged Spartan Shot, 7-1/2's

I tested 10 pellets and got an average crush of 0.023" which by my scale is Medium-Hard.

Not bad, and much better than I had expected.

The shot was shiny, and has good sphericity, and the size is about what it should be. Some of the imported shot runs small, but this is about right.

If the price is better than West Coast, I would buy it.

Other than knowing it’s made in Spain and I’ve seen it advertised on Ebay, where’s it available in the states?

I bought 10 bags of Spartan last summer at $33/bag. I figured it was crap. But I'm new to reloading so might as well load crap shot until I know what I'm doing. No sense in wasting premium lead.

I'm very surprised it wasnt medium soft or just plain soft. Thank you as always for your work, Tim!

I always am looking forward to your test results, Tim. Again, thank you.

Tim. Glad to hear your testing results. I bought 10 bags last summer to try for singles. I could see no difference on singles, in fact I think I had better breaks. Bought 10 more bags at the Westy Hogans shoot. I too was curious as to the hardness. Keep up the good work.

Tim did you check the size of the pellets? A few years ago i bought some and the 8's were closer to 9's and the 7.5's were closer to 8.5's... this was probably five years ago.
Yes, I am aware that imported shot often runs small, but this stuff was just about the size it should be. I was pleasantly surprised.

I’ve thought that in the past. Heck they didn’t even have Spartan in their website for the first few months they offered it. But then I got to know the owners and employees out there. I am a CAC distributer in Central PA. They treat their customers like family and haven’t gotten into the business of trying to rape every cent from their customers during this shortage/virus/panic! They have hired extra people and have had to close on mondays just to try to keep up. When you have as much as stock as they carry, the website is a never ending process. I think/hope that CAC and Spartan come to terms again. I sold tons of that stuff. I think that’s why it stayed on the internet because eventually this madness will end.
