Charles Daly / Miroku

Having an issue with an older model Daly/Miroku
wont always fire both barrels I know there has been a common problem with the pins failing in the selector
this one looks great there.. however internally it was pretty dirty and gummy
it was given to me about a yr ago and its in pretty good shape I have shot a few rounds of sporting clays with it no issues.. until recently
would love to know if anyone has any lead on parts for it? the hammers and some stuff inside are pretty beat up
If nothing is available (which looks to be the case) I can polish it all up and put it back together

Yea if you just type in miroku you get double but still not much although anything is better than nothing

I do have a first gen citori I might pull apart and see what looks interchangeable or at least similar

Miroku still makes Citori. Might check with Browning. I'd clean first. I've seen guns where the grease from years ago is now the consistency of candle wax. Cold candle wax.

I have often wondered if the parts of a Citori would interchange with a Charles Daly if same production period.

Possibly some of the very earliest ones when Miroku changed from Charles Daly to Browning, but after that I have read there were some design changes other than just going from flat springs to coil springs. From another thread although I know nothing about either of these personally:

I owned a 12ga 30 inch for a while. Never shot it very well so I sold it a couple years ago. I think the Miroku Charles Daly's are approaching the end of their useful life. Few people shoot them, no parts available except from the rare collector (if you're lucky enough to get in contact with one) and nobody knows how to disassemble the action when you need to replace the vee springs.

This is the same information that I found when I had mine a few years ago. I think all the parts sources have faded into memory now.

I think some of the early Winchester 101's were part compatable with Miroku. However, some of the well known gunsmiths that work on 101's and have parts could tell you.
I used to be a 101 nut, but when choke tubes became THE thing, I sold off my fixed choke 101's.
Google Winchester 101 gunsmiths. Make some phone calls. Hope that idea works.

Last year I had to have the lower barrel hammer spring replaced in a Miroku/Daily O/U. The lower barrel hammer is hung from the top of the action/receiver. A leaf spring had to be made. It was not a simple fix. The gunsmith told me to give the gun to someone I didn't like and just be done with it but no I wanted it fixed. It was not cheap.
The cost of having both hammer springs replaced would exceed the value of the gun. If you must have it fixed the first thing you need to do is find a gunsmith that is willing to make the springs. It will also require that you have more money than brains.

This is my fear. My oldest, and dearest, shotgun is a Miroku Charles Daly Superior Grade trap with a Broadway style wide flat rib. It was a Christmas gift from my wife to her very young husband in 1976. I kept pretty decent count of the rounds fired until about the 30K mark but lost count after that. I shot it as recently as last fall and wonder each outing if this is the day one of the leaf springs break. I think it is time to put it into a mostly "retired" stage. I've had other trap guns and have others still, but this old Daly has a special place in my heart.

If you need parts/flat springs made for it find a gun smith that works on older double guns, that is your best bet. Most of those guys are pretty good at making flat springs.

I picked one up last year as well. Shot lots but well cared for. Top barrel would missfire. I bought some flat spring stock from Brownells, watched some you tube video's and made new v springs. So far the gun does not miss a beat. I live in Canada so getting parts is not possible and finding a US contact to ship to Canada is not so easy. B&C Gunsmithing does have the v springs for around $100 a set. These guns in my opinion are worth the investment.

About three years ago two guys I know had 20 ga Miroku Charles Daly's we tried finding firing pins and springs for them for quite a while. We had no luck finding the parts.

Crazy thought: I was having a similar problem with a Citori seems I wasn't opening the gun far enough to set the second trigger so I was getting FTF on doubles. Just saying
