I took my krieghoff in for service and they recommended I not shoot Rios because they pierce the primer and ruin the firing pin

Winchester Primers net price after rebate was $88.00. You could buy 3 cases, 15,000 primers. Receive back up to $100.00

I sure agree. One can only imagine where those tiny particles from a very hard firing pin end up. After all, they likely pierce when pressure is the highest. Those primer brands or shell brands that experiences piercing are pretty much banned from going into one of my guns.

I've shot 15K of the 209 Rio without a problem. Yes, oversized, but just use the same hulls only for the Rio. IMO, they are between the Win and Fed primers for the strength.

They work but not worth the problem if you can get anything elce. They do enlarge the primer pocket, and are harder on the firing pins. I stay away from them.

Both the Rio and the Nobel Sport are sized to fit all the Euro made hulls. American made shells are made with a smaller primer pocket. As mentioned above by many posters, once you use one of these two primers. You will have to continue to do so. The american primers can and will fall out after they are used.
I used 10,000 Nobel Sport primers. These primers did damage my firing pins to some degree during this time. I shot them in both my Browning's. I will not use them again. I have heard rumors that Nobel Sport has fixed this problem. I will not try them again. Its not worth a nickel a box to me. I'm not going to play Russian Roulette with primers again. IMO you are rolling the dice if you buy these primers in large orders. They work just fine in some guns. Not so well in others. The choice is yours to make. Try loading a few hundred before you go out and buy 5000 plus of these primers. break em all Jeff
