The 396 was the target version of the Peerless and were just as bad. The 332 Ideal was actually quite a bit better of a design, but still fell far short of Browning or Beretta quality.
Yep. The 332 design was taken over by one of the best gun guys we had in Ilion....he did the best he could given the time and cost constraints. At least that version was a better design and more esthetically pleasing.

The hard thing was to make one in the Ilion plant that was going to compete on cost with these two import models. The imports, whether firearms or ammunition, always have a price advantage over our 'living wage' costs here in the U.S.
