Here’s my question about high rib guns... what is the difference between a gun that 20 years ago would have definitely been marketed as a trap gun vs today’s mid/high rib guns?

Specifically, some guys I shoot trap with have some nice Beretta 682 combo sets and the o/u barrel has a pronounced step rib but they’re no taller than my brother’s new K80 sporting gun with a mid rib. Could an old 682 trap be set up as a sporting/skeet gun?

Do no have any idea on how you mount your gun, but if you mount it low, down from the top of the shoulder, bringing the stock up to where the top of the pad is close to the top line of your shoulder should could help in bringing your head up.

I shoot a custom high rib Winchester model 12. Its 90/10 poi I am a very fast shooter, so the sight plain of a higher rib allows me to pick up on the targets much faster than a flat rib to the barrel gun. I will also say it helps having your head an eyes more parallel to the target vs laying your head over. I have been shooting this gun for about 4 years now an can’t go back to a flat rib gun for trap. Sporting clays I shoot a flat rib Winchester super x 1

I shot fixed Monte Carlo 682's and 687 Beretta Traps guns for several years for SC's.....they shot 50/50 for me. The regular Beretta SC's stocks were way to low for me. I shoot a CG high rib SC gun now that shoots 50/50. A lot has to do with your facial bone structure i.e. high cheek bones or not.

Model 12 Boy, Do you mind sharing a picture of your W12 High Rib and your opinion of the Rib Manufacturer?

I have a 52 M12 with a 30 inch ventilated rib barrel.
I have a hard time shooting trap with this gun compared to my midrib 682 Unsingle or 90T HPAR.....
Maybe I need to sell it and focus on 90T.
