Hot off the press.
Bass Proshop/Cabela's will be re introducing the HERTERS brand of shotgun ammunition.
This NEW ammunition is,
MADE IN THE USA.
No idea what the quality is like.
I do know that the retail case price is set at, $59.99 per flat on all 12 & 20 ga. $119.00 per flat on 28 ga and .410 bore.
I know that there were a bunch of shooters that really liked the old Herters for one reason or another.
There will be 8 Target loads and 28 Hunting loads, including 8 sku's of non-toxic steel shot hunting loads available.
Calibers range from 12, 16, 20, 28 & .410.
As far as Target loads go, here is the line up.
20ga, 7/8th oz, 7 1/2 and 8's at 1200 fps.
12ga, 1oz, 7 1/2's & 8's at 1180 fps
12ga, 1 1/8th oz 7 1/2's & 8's at 1145 fps.
28ga, 3/4oz, 7 1/2's at 1200 fps.
.410 bore, 1/2 oz, 9's at 1200 fps.
That's all I know,

My catalog I received Monday agrees with you. I hope this is a sign that prices are coming back down. I have posted before that these things are commodities like gasoline.
I really wouldn't use Bass Pro / Cabela's as a barometer for the cost of ammunition. Their pricing is very high in comparison to the market.
Even pricing at the Grand, is approx.
12% less expensive on quite a few brands. I guess if Herters is your only option, it's ok at best.
Promotional shells are abundant in the $56.00 range.

Right now at Walmart you can get Federal 1 1/8 ounce 7 1/2 or 8, 1200 fps 12 gauge for $49.40 a flat. It is the dove/ game load, same shell Walmart promoed about 3 years ago. It's back which is great for me as it was my go to shell on sporting clays. I use the #8, shoot em & toss em. At that price why reload for sporting or practice.
