I seen thread this morning so I got to thinking. What kind of support do these SKB's have from the importer and distributor. I called the number on SKB's web site and I asked a few questions.

I asked where the closest SKB dealer was to me, I live about 40 miles north of Seattle. Reply; at a pawn shop 25 miles south of Seattle. I called the pawn shop and they have been selling SKB for over 2 years. They have sold a total of 5 and he would have to special order one if I want to buy one. I asked about service work, who did that for SKB's in our area. The sales clerk said no one here has a clue. I asked him if he was buying a shotgun for his son ,using the same price point as a new SKB, what would he buy? He told me it would not be a SKB. Now that came from a SKB listed dealer.

I called the SKB number listed on their website back and asked how long would it take and what would it cost to buy a new bolt and forearm wood for a SKB RS300 (a two year old model). I was told just buy a new one the 2 year old one was not worth it.

Maybe Tron, Wadhopper and West have it right.

There are parts available. He just told me the forearm wood is $150.00 and the bolt would be about $100.00 and it would be better to buy a new one as the 2 year old one was not worth the $250.00.

I'll admit, I was slow to catch on, but for about the same money you can buy a Beretta 391. They are such a great gun and I have bought a couple for under $700. For me that is the best gun in that price range. The 1100 is right there with it, I have a couple of those as well. Why take a chance on an SKB when there are proven guns for the same money.

I’m not knocking SKB, just making fun of myself....
Some of my best scores were shot with what many would refer to as a tomato stake and I honestly don’t care what name’s on anyone’s gun.
I just hope it works out for them and they’re having fun doing it.

I'm going to be buying an RS400 from a friend of mine. Does anybody have any thoughts about this gun?
I see you are only 18 and a new member to this site. What are your intentions with this gun? Is it your first? Are you going to use it once a year for hunting pheasant or try to shoot 300 targets a day events trapshooting? Skeet? Sporting clays? All of the above?

I'm not defending this particular gun but I'll defend SKB service to the end and I think so will most SKB owners. I have a 85TSS and put a lot of ammo through it a year. Subsequenty I need parts from time to time and they have it and it's in my mail box a few days later. When I first needed a part I ordered one from SKB and ordered the same part from other reputable parts suppliers and the one from SKB showed up first and was the cheapest. Their customer service is top notch.

If you cant spend the extra few dollars to get atleast a beretta or a browning how can you afford to pay for the rounds and ammo. Cost of the gun is cheap compared to ammo and the rounds? Just save an extra 2 weeks and buy something a little better.

I'm a big fan of the SKB's that were made in Japan. I have 2 85TSS and will not part with them. I've had a GC-7 and a 585 that I sold and wish I had back especially the GC-7. SKB customer service is top notch and they are very helpful when you call them. I have no experience with the new SKB's from Turkey, so I really can't comment on them.
