Hi there,

I have a Browning Citori Cx that I have owned for approximately 2 years. That being said, I have just recently noticed that I have a hairline crack that is approximately 1/8" long starting to occur in the bottom right hand corner of the trigger guard enxtension that extends into the grip area of the rear stock of the gun. I have done some research that states that it would be wise to take off all of your firearms wood stocks and to aply tung or linseed oil on the unfinshed surfaces as to protect them from excess gun oil or moisture. I will be doing this to the rest of my wood guns but in the mean time am looking for a replacement stock for this firearm. While searching both brownells and Browning's websites, I could not find a replacement stock designed for any of the CX models. I may try to get the stock fixed but worst case scenario I would like to be able to replace the stock and continue to be able to use the inflex II recoil pad.

If anyone either know a way one could go about fixing this themselves, or a replacement stock that would both closely match the wood grade of the forearm and have a butt cut to specifications to use an inflex II recoil pad, it would be much appreciated. I will however take it to a gunsmith if there is no way a person could adress the issue themselves, before going out and buying a whole new stock.

Thanks.

Just take your stock to a gunsmith and it can be repaired properly. You may not even be able to tell it was ever cracked when it's done. This is very common and it's an easy fix if done right away. Don't let it go until the crack gets worse.
