I can find several web sources for new 1100 o-rings, but it seems to be a guarded secret as to what the actual size is supposed to be. I guess that is the only way they can get a buck or two for them. I just happen to work where quality o-rings are plentiful and cheap. They won't cost me anything if I know the correct size to use.

I took the new gas system oring off my Remington 1100 shotgun to work today. I used our o-ring measuring devices and came up with this...

The O-ring was measured out to be a size 0-22 with a durometer of 70-75. The material appears to be Viton. Does anyone have any information to verify or disprove this information?

Just off the top of my cranium I think that is the exact specs of the O-ring and that ring can be purchased at almost any good auto parts store which reminds me ... I need to swing by and snag a couple of new ones myself.

Viton

15/16" ID

1-1/16" OD

1/16" cross section

Neoprene size 33 plumbing o-rings from the local hardware store will work in a pinch, but its a good idea to change them more frequently than the Viton.

As I recall they are in fact Vitron and size 21 not 22. Bought a package of dozens few years ago from local Bearings & Drive Company and have not even started to use them up. Common o-rings will work, but will not last quite as long.

For a 20 gauge Remington it could be either the 12ga size or the smaller 20ga size. The older 1100 20ga's had a larger magazine than the newer models. The magazine was the same size as the 12ga. That is also why some of the 20ga barrels and forends don't interchange.
