I tried some a while back. It works as advertised. No reason not to buy it.

Does it do anything better or cheaper than Green Dot ?
It costs me a whole 2 dollars less than Green Dot. $120.00 vs $122.00
It's denser, so it takes up less space than Green Dot.
It does not use the same bushing size per weight as Green Dot. "WEIGH ALL POWDER DROPS"
That's a good thing when loading in AA HS Hulls!
It goes boom when you pull the trigger and the target turn to dust when you hit it!
I only used it for Handicap 1 1/8 oz "1250" FPS loads.
I found it cleaner as well,
MG

I agree with the above, smaller bushing but after 3/4 of a jug I see no difference in cleanliness. After my 700X problems in shot shells and WST problem in 45's I'm leaning back to Alliant Green and Clay Dot for Trap and Red Dot for hunting.

As always, good advice from mg1polo. As for me, I've been shooting Green Dot and Red dot for over 50 years and have never been disappointed in the performance of either so I have no reason to change. I've experimented with other powders along the way and always came back to GD and RD. The difference in cost is almost impossible to relate. Bill

Have seen it---have not tried it. Because I don't know, IS THERE LOAD DATA FOR IT AND HOW DOES IT COMPARE WITH POSTED LOADS OF GREEN DOT???
Are we advised to use different bushings??
Jim,
We are advised to weigh the powder drop and use whatever bushing that throws the correct drop.
As stated above, they DO NOT use the same bushings to attain the desired weight.
They do use the same data,

For What it is worth, you should be aware of a potential problem. I have purchased six 14 oz containers marked made in Canada, but cannot get consistent drop weights. Sometimes as much as 1 grain difference! Yep one grain not one tenth. Since I purchased this over a year ago and am the one that removed the seals I know it is the uncontaminated. It seems to clump. I have shaken the container as per Hodgdons suggestion. I cleaned out my old 800-B and dropped clay dot +/- .2 so I think the press is on spec. Using Redding beam scales and Dillon electronic scales together for measurement. I really like the handicap long yardage performance at 1200fps+, but must get consistency. Any thoughts on this problem? I understand over the powder shortage several manufacturing locations have been involved.

James,
Today pretty much all powders are going to vary from lot to lot, bottle to bottle.
This is why you MUST weigh every new bottle of powder in order to set your drop weights.
You are correct, they change!

Polo,
I agree with you that powder varies from lot to lot but doesn't 1 grain seem like quite a bit? I load quite a bit of Promo, which is known for lot to lot variation, and I don't think I've ever seen 1 grain difference when switching lots. I weigh not only when switching lots but every time I start a loading session. It's a double check that I didn't forget about something I did and tells me when the press has settled in to a steady state so that I can start cranking out shells.

Honestly,
1 grain is small! I've seen 2 to 3 grain differences already.
My guess is that this is the way it's going to be from now on.
Just weigh each new jug and you will never have a problem.
happy Loading,

Again Bushing Charts are only for reference. As Polo has said and as well as any experienced reloader with find that his most important thing he can buy after a reloader is a good sets of scales.
There is no such thing as I have seen as a Bad canister of powder. However as its been pointed out. USE YOUR SCALES and weigh each can of powder before loading any of it.

Now for a comparison I was loading 20.5 grains of GREEN DOT. Then I had a brand new jug of IMR GREEN. without changing one thing on the loader but taking the powder hopper off and getting the remnants of the Green Dot powder completely out. I then put the IMR GREEN in and begin to check what weight I was dropping of the IMR. I was consistently dropping 23.2 grains of IMR GREEN!!!!

NUF SAID!!!! Use your scales!!!!

I am getting new 700x from Hodgdon's and will see if I get the variations as from the older 1# canisters. I'll bet it was just packaged damp as the seals were in place. Mike at Hodgdon's has been very helpful, so I believe this will be a quick fix.

My exact feelings ! Tried many others and always come back to Green Dot.
