Hey I'm wondering if you what shells you use for dove hunting? I was wondering between Winchester AA SUPER sports and the Winchester Texas dove loads which would you choose? I'm leaning towards the Winchester AA Super sports.

+1 - Same here as when we go out it is usually our entire family hunting, so two kids and my wife, too. Fun, but if the birds are flying that can be quite a few shells in one evening. Reloads and cheaper game loads allow for more trips to the field.

I took kids to the gun club yesterday for some informal clay target shooting to help them start getting ready. Fun to target shoot and more fun to hunt when they are connecting with those little gray feathered targets when hunting season starts!

Calculating the difference between two shells that differ by 200 fps at a bird shot at 50 yards the difference in lead would be approximately 1.5 feet assuming both shells are maintaining their velocities at 1300 and 1150. Which of course they are not. So the number is probably slightly larger. Might not be a lot to some but might be to others.

One question....

Do you know ANYONE who has the ability to adjust their lead by 18 inches (1.5 feet) on a 50 yard "crossing" shot on a dove?

If you do, I would love to know who it is because I want to meet them and shake their hand!!!!!

I have only been Dove Hunting for 65 years so I still have a LOT TO LEARN !!!
WHAT I HAVE LEARNED :
The SPEED of the load is USELESS
The HARDER the shot you use.....the FEWER THE CRIPPLES
The shot SIZE should be adapted to the TYPE of shots you will be taking.
A nimble handling gun is usually the BEST CHOICE
A 12 ga. Is USUALLY a WASTE of effort.
My main gun is a 20 ga. O/U with 30" barrels @7 lbs. with skeet & IC chokes.
