I am not opposed to a goofy thread but this time I am serious. I KNOW a lot of you use Figure 8 wads. I have too. I do not particularly like them--and don't intend to use them again. I tried them several times over the years in Gun Club hulls with less than adequate success. It seems that Gun Club hulls are "rough" on the inside and I get way too many cocked wads no matter what loader I am using (Mec PW Dillon Spolar). Results are always a off sounding shot. I think it has something to do with the center post being so small allowing the shot cup to tilt causing the powder cup to deform. I have cut several open and it's always the same--deformed powder cup.
What do you think is the advantage of the design? What is the advantage of the "post" construction? Is the design just a marketing ploy? Why does the NEW Clay and Field shell have the old style "power piston" if the shell is the latest greatest?
Thoughts???
