The name change from crossover to CX was due to legal issues with the crossover name. Copyright issue. Same gun.
I have the 30 in Micro. Big head, little arms.
Shoots a little higher than some of the others commented.
It's my dubs gun. BT99 for singles/caps.
Only about 2000 thru it, but has been perfect.
Thinking about getting the 32 inch to try.
For the money, it's a great value.
Tried and true Citori.
Good luck with whatever you choose.
Geo.

I have a 30" and it shoots about 60/40 when the beads are stacked for me. I think if your friend wanted to shoot both sporting and trap he would want something with an adjustable comb so he could have a higher POI for trap and a 50/50 for sporting. that being said I think remembering to put that cost in the budget might change what gun he can get. I have a Beretta 686 onyx pro which shoots 50/50 for me and I know I have seen combo's where you could get the single barrel to shoot higher for you. might not be a bad way to go.

Just be aware that Browning offers both a Cynergy CX and a Citori CX. Two different guns. Also, in the Citori line, they offer the CX, CXS and CXT. I assume the "S" stands for Sporting and the "T" stands for Trap. If you are looking for the CX and CX Mico on the Browning website you must click on Citori>Limited Availability Shotguns.

Looking at the new CX models on Browning website, I notice the CXT has a Monte Carlo stock and slightly higher rib while the CXS has a straight stock with more drop and slightly lower rib. Browning positions both models for all clay target sports, with the CXT leaning more towards trap (POI 60/40) and the CXS leaning towards sporting/skeet (POI 50/50). I am considering a new gun for 5-stand/sporting since my 725 Trap shoots with a 80/20 POI. I was going to get the 2016 Citori CX, but I'm may wait for the CXT and CXS to make an appearance at the PA State Shoot before making a decision. Of course by that time all of the 2016 CX inventory may be gone.

Ah, another BT guy with a CX. :) I mentioned this elsewhere, but does the CX sort of feel like a O/U BT? It does to me.

I got my CX last year during Browning's previous $100 rebate program.
They are running it again until March 31; I'm tempted to buy another gun I don't need. :)

Yes, I don't feel a lot of difference between my Bt and Cx in handling.
Pretty seamless going from one to the other.
The CX may swing easier actually, making it a great doubles gun.
The rebate is why I'm thinking about a 32 inch CX.
Don't need it, but that's not the point right?
Geo.

What is the difference between the cx and cxt. Is it just the stock or is it also ported. Also does a ported barrel help much. Sorry new to the sport and been looking at a over under for awhile. Also what would be easiest way to tell me the difference between the cx and the xt and the 725 with out writing a novel.

The CX is not ported while the CXT is. The CXT has a Monte Carlo stock. The CXT is $300+ more than a CX.
You can get a new CX for $1600 - $1650.

Their are several models of 725, so though it might not be a novel, it would take several paragraphs. I suggest looking at the Browning website for pics and descriptions of the guns.

As I understand the lineage, the Crossover/CX is the reincarnation of the Browning Citori Special Sporting Clays which was in production +/- 20 years ago. Browning achieved the current attractive price point because it already incurred the R&D/start-up costs on the legacy SSC model. I received this information from the shop where I purchased my Crossover three years ago. The guns are very similar in configuration so it sounds like a plausible explanation; but then again, it could be a salesman's fictional perception...you never know.

CX with 32" barrel...very tempting.
They're on sale a Cabela's for $1599.99 and there is a $100 Browning rebate until the end of this month. Just sayin'.

In honor of this thread, I shot a couple of rounds of trap this morning with my 30" CX.
It was freakin' cold out, but my scores were higher than the temperature. :3a:

I believe the Cabelas sale is for the 30 in version.
Try Grabagun. They have a 32 inch. But you have to watch the price. They fluctuate daily.
I've seen them go fro 1550 to 1620 in a couple of days and I'm then back down again.
Bought my 32 inch from them. Waiting to be shipped.
Check GunBroker also.
Good luck,
Geo.

I ordered the 30" version from Cabelas last week and it will arrive sometime this week. I want to use this to get into sporting clays and occasional skeet. I decided to not wait for the new CXT since I noticed it has a ported barrel. My 725 Trap that I use for doubles is ported and the gun is harder to clean and much louder when shooting. From what I understand, the ports really don't do much for muzzle jump or recoil. I'll post some first impression later.
