I don't think all hunters that reload shotgun shells for hunting turkeys and waterfowl know about TSS shot "Tungsten Super Shot".

TSS shot is around 45% denser than lead. Lead is 11.34 g/cc density and TSS shot is 18.0 g/cc density. TSS shot is very hard and it is very heavy compared to the same size lead pellet.

TSS shot is very expensive around $45.00 to $50.00 per pound but in the smaller gauges and for turkey hunting where you don't use very many shells per year TSS shot is getting used quite a bit.

Many turkey hunters are using TSS shot in sizes #8, #8-1/2, #9 and #9-1/2. TSS shot makes the 410, 28ga and 20 ga very deadly on turkeys, ducks and geese.

Just to give you a better idea of how dense TSS shot is look at the below pellet counts per ounce.

#9 lead shot is about 581 pellets per ounce #9 TSS shot is about 362 pellets per ounce.

#8 lead shot is about 408 pellets per ounce #8 TSS shot is about 254 pellets per ounce.

#6 lead shot is about 223 pellets per ounce #6 TSS shot is about 139 pellets per ounce.

Below are some ballistics for steel shot, lead shot, Hevi-Shot and TSS shot. In my KPY Shotshell Ballistic program I put all the steel loads at 1500 fps and the lead, Hevi-Shot and TSS loads at 1300 fps.

Check out the "target range yards" this is the distance the the pellets will get the "gel penetration at target" distance on the far right. They recommend 1.50" of gel penetration for ducks and 2.50" of gel penetration for geese.
