Pistolpay?

I have bought several guns through gunbroker and one from here but never sold one online but I have been running an ad on armslist to sell my Citori Trap. A guy has offered to buy it, but wants to use pistolpay as an escrow service. Not sure how I feel about mailing my gun to someone and trusting a company to mail me a check minus 2.7% anyone have experience with this company?

I gave my name and number, my gunbroker user name, and my user name on TS, not sure what else to offer. I'm really just trying to get my money back out of it, so I think I'll hold off.

My personal rule on Craigslist, Armslist, and Gunlistings.org, et al...

If its under 50 bucks I will ship/go thru the hoops to get it done on their terms more or less.

Big dollar stuff, guns, optics etc...you pay me, I have cash in hand and clear and done, then you get your item.

Don't like my terms? Buy one somewhere else, or drive to me.

I backed out of the deal and the buyer was pissed, saying an escrow service was the only safe way. I agree that it is safe for the buyer but that still leaves me mailing a $1200 gun to someone 2ooo miles away with no money in my pocket. Like I told him, I am always nervous sending sending M.O. to people I don't know but if you do a little asking and talk to them on the phone, its a lot easier.

I bought the gun at a trap shoot about 2 hours from home from a guy I had never met. I told the guy I really liked it but didn't have the cash on me, he said, "Son, you are taking the gun home with you today. Just give me a copy of your drivers license and send me a check when you get home. If you cant trust a fellow trap shooter, you cant trust anyone." I don't know that I could do that, but it really stuck with me (I sent him a M.O. the next morning).

I have used PistolPay twice. It worked fine both times. I put my money in the escrow and once the gun arrived at my FFL, I had 24 hours to check it out and approve it. Once I said it was good to go, pistolpay did an auto deposit into the seller's bank account. It was a pretty simple way to deal with a transaction on this site from someone who didn't have a posting history and was clear across the country from me. The fee was a bit more than I wanted but it was about as safe a transaction as you could get without a FTF exchange. I think the funds were available in the guy's account in 2 business days after I accepted delivery.

I have not used it, Home Page

I usually have used that gut instinct, and get references, and a phone call or 2,
If I like the pictures, If I liked the communication, I buy,
I have had nothing but great results on HERE TS.COM.
I have had good results on Gun Broker

I would have the buyer pay the fees if that's the route you would go.
Otherwise he sends the funds, once you satisfied you send the goods

I agree with the OP and others. FTF or Gunbroker for me and funds cleared in bank account before shipping.
I have recently sold some pistols, contender barrels, etc on Gunbroker. They went very well, except the pistols. My fault. Didnt realize pistols require next day shipping. Costs ate me up. Hard lesson learned.
Bought several too, also went well. Gunbroker seems to be a class act from my few purchases/sales.
Who knows, may have something to sell on here :)

This how business is supposed to be done, Honesty and a mans word,

Its sad how that is falling apart

I am looking into selling on gunbroker, but haven't tried it yet. Like I said, I prefer FTF deals. It makes be nervous to be the buyer or seller in online deals. I don't want to cheat anyone or be cheated... I have probably bought 10 guns online and never had a bad experience.

I had a similar experience with a guy from SD. Never met him in person. Just called a number on a corkboard posted ad. He sent me the gun to try for 2 weeks and told me to just mail a check or send the gun back if I didn't want it. We knew some of the same people so that gave us both some comfort level.

I did get a prompt email response from the the guy at Pistolpal. He was the same guy that stated he was the owner on some of the message boards I saw. He answered my questions and the buyer is picking up the fees so I'm going to try it. Seems like I need to pay forward the grace that was extended to me when I bought it in the first place.
