I know, people have said a thousand times that H110 and W296 are the same powder. But I was surprised to see that the MEC powder bushing charts shows different drop amounts for the two powers for any given bushing. What's up with that? The bushings never drop the amount listed in the chart for me, so I'm not worried about that. It just seems weird that they would list different amounts for two powders that are supposed to be the same. Thoughts?

As far as I know it is one and the same and I have used both 296 and H110 in .410 and .357 Mag hand loads with out any notable differences other than what the container looked like. I would suspect that minor lot to lot variations would explain small variances in the data.

We have to say it a thousand times because somebody with no clue always doubts us. It is the same and has been that way for years. The only difference I see Hodgdons 8lb jug takes up less room than Winchester 8lb jug that is a 1/4 full with 8lbs in it.

I believe Hodgdon when they say they are the same powder.

As far as the bushing charts go how do you think the bushing makers come up with their data? Some guy in the lab takes the powder and measures its density (mass per unit of volume). Then he tweaks it (increases the density) to account for settling (mechanical vibration of the loader) and calculates the drops for each bushing size. His data is only good for his particular batch of powder. What they publish is always conservative (on the light side).

Sorry Timberfaller it's not pretty much the same it's exactly the same . You fall right in line with my first post . Why is so hard for you guys to just realize there's no difference never was period.

Straight for the horses mouth in 2010:

OK, let me make this as clear as possible. The only difference between
H110 and Winchester 296 is the label on the container. There is no
other difference.

Judging by the tone, I was not the first one to ask him this.
