I recently acquired 2lbs of Blue Dot from a friend and cannot find a load for trap in the charts. I've seen in talked about here and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with it for a trap load. I shoot Remington hulls, cheddite primers, 1 1/8 oz
Thanks

Sorry to say, But Blue Dot is more or less a Magnum Powder.
I can't find any 1 1/8th oz loads period, let alone something around 1150 to 1200 fps.
Someone on here might have a load that will work for ya, but I checked all my data
and can't find any. I think that you should sell the Blue Dot, and get yourself some Red Dot or even Green Dot.
You should have no problem selling the Blue Dot, it's highly sought after right now.
Don't get me wrong here, It is a very good old powder, just not for Trap applications in my opinion.
Good Luck,
Mark

Back in the days when you could hunt ducks with lead shot, I would load Rem 3 1/2" 10 ga. hulls with a SP10 wad, 2 ounces of shot and 46 grs. of Blue Dot. The load went around 1200 fps. My brother and me had a saying: It killed at both ends of the gun! I don't think it will work with 1 1/8 oz. of lead, it's way to slow.

Ain't going to work worth a darn for a target loading. Even loading it for what its meant to be in 12 ga will give some very irratic SD's, especially in colder weather.

Don't waste your time trying to figure out how it can work for target 12 ga. Blue Dot works great for many other apps and you should try trading out. I bet $$ you can mention it or post it at your local club and someone there will want it.

Maybe sell it and buy some faster powder like Red Dot or whatever is available. I use Blue Dot for .44 mag and it has a bunch of other uses like mentioned above, 28 ga. .410, .357 mag, .44 mag., .40 SW, 1 1/4 oz. duck loads etc. Someone will want it. You won't like it if you try and lower the grains for a light target load... it won't burn properly and can be dangerous if it causes an obstruction or other problems. Be safe and trade it out for something.

Want To Buy - Blue Dot Powder | Trap Shooters Forum This guy was looking for some so maybe figure out how to help him out.

Also can make a good fertilizer for the rose garden.

Never seen a load recommended for Blue Dot and .410, but Blue Dot is only a little faster than 2400, so it should be fine. I am going to look at the Ballistic Products Blue Dot .410 load and see what I think of it. Remember that even 2400 .410 loads are pretty high pressure, so stick to 1/2 ounce loads if you use Blue Dot.
