Orlen installs Colonial / Truchoke pattern tubes, and is very quick and inexpensive. Has always done very good job for me. Cost with 3 tubes and shipping perhaps $140. Turn around time is always less than a week in my experience, often the next day. Briley does extremely good work, uses tube that only they produce and are fitted to your barrel diameter, can do thin barrels that Orlen cannot. Cost with 5 chokes and shipping perhaps $550. In the past they have taken several weeks. On a $1000 gun use Orlen, on a $5000 gun maybe Briley

Plus 1 for what Boss said above.

I recently had an 1100 hunting gun threaded by Mike Orlen. Great job with a one week turnaround, including shipping. However, If it was a competition gun that might go down the road someday, I would want a Briley receipt... Lots of feedback on both installers here and elsewhere, Mike Orlen had a nice article about his services in Shooting Sportsman a few years back.

What bossbasl said.

In a clay target shotgun, Briley chokes generally don't hurt the resale value, and may increase it (although not by what it costs).

Pretty much every other installation will not increase the value at all, and will most likely lower the resale value.

It really depends on what you're having choked. If you're talking 870/1100 barrel, the value isn't great to begin with, so use whoever (I would still go with Briley). If you're talking Krieghoff/Perazzi barrel, go with Briley.

Personally, unless the barrel value was under $200, and/or the gun value was under $700, I wouldn't buy a barrel or gun unless it was severely undervalued that had anything but factory chokes or Briley, Angleport, Wilkinson, Teague or depending on the gun Stan Baker.

Tom Wilkinson does about the best job on chokes and barrel work, I have his screw in chokes in all my comp guns. There is literally no blow by and his constrictions are actually what is written on the choke. Give him a call and see what you think.

I'm just 2 hours south of Houston, home of Briley, and have a few guns with Briley chokes as well as 2 Briley sub-gauge tubesets. Also a Kolar set, so I'm not partial. A trapshooting friend recently bought a new Perazzi competition gun from Steve Brink and he had Wilkinson put in his flush mount chokes, and I have to say it is one of the most amazing jobs I have ever seen ! If you didn't know that the barrels were screw choked, you definitely couldn't see them looking at them. Using his special choke tube wrench, when removing them, they are basically a work of mechanical art !!! I know they are a little pricey, but on a $12,000+ gun, well worth it, I feel. JMHO (Mike*)

Briley charges $450 to do an O/U, both barrels and includes 3 tubes.

A single barrel is $300.

I do a lots of customer's Perazzi barrels at Briley and all are very satisfied. In fact, several times I've ordered myself a new Perazzi. Without ever seeing the gun, I have it shipped directly to Briley in Houston (I used to live near them), and then on to me. Personally, I'd go nowhere else to have my Perazzi tubed.

Agree with Briley. I would (and do myself) CALL before I ship. I ask for Stormy. He will tell me what the turn around time is based on work in the shop. If I ship when he suggests, the turn-around is usually about two weeks. Work is exceptional. DO remember that when installing chokes it would be very easy to run a cutting tool out the side of a barrel. That insurance is what you are paying for. Low price is good, but what happens when something goes wrong? The big guys have a plan.
