Grease,Hoppes.Got me over 100,000 rounds before a $400 rebuild needed doing which made it new again.

Clean the grease off every day.The dirt that gets caught in dirt or oil does all the damage.

Another shooter and I got into a discussion of grease vs. oil several years ago. I use grease but the other guy argued that oil does a great job in engines and their parts are subject to a lot more heat, dirt and pressure than those of firearms. His point was correct but engines have a pump that continually replenishes the oil film on the moving parts; guns do not, so when that film wears away, there is no new coating to take its place.

I get lubriplate white grease in little toothpaste tubes and keep one in every gun case. As soon as it gets dirty, I wipe it off and reapply. Good enough for a M14 in combat, good enough for the O/U at the club. What ever you use, keep it clean and you gun will probably outlast you.

I use Dupont Krytox..or Starbrite White Marine..oil is fine but got tired of slinging the gun over my shoulder and my shirt looking like it enjoyed a tub of French fries without me..no matter how little used it just migrated everywhere
